Berthold "Bert" Klein, Jr.December 17, 1935 ~ April 24, 2017 (age 81)
Berthold “Bert” Klein, Jr. of Ravenna, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2017 at 81 years of age. Born in Ravenna to parents, Berthold and Elizabeth (Goodrich) Klein on December 17, 1935, he was a resident of Ravenna for most of his life. He was a survivor who endured many years of heart disease and defeated cancer. Bert spent several years working for his father at Klein’s Furniture Store in Ravenna. He attended Kent State University and was a member of the National Guard. He was employed at Polsky’s Department Store as an Assistant to the Senior Vice-President, served as the Human Relations Manager at Container Corporation of America and retired from Duracote Corporation after 24 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing table tennis, tennis and bowling. Bert was a member of the First Church of God in Ravenna and a member of Unity Lodge #12 and the Order of the Eastern Star #46 both in Ravenna. He was a past officer for the Portage County Personnel Association and a past member of the VFW. He is survived by his five daughters Holly Lyon, Faith Lyon, Coreen Dillon, Robin Bryant and Sandra Dorsey, three grandchildren Heather Knapp, Kirsten and Kyle Dorsey and 4 great grandchildren. Bert was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Pennell) Klein, mother and father, Elizabeth and Berthold, brother, Maurice Klein and sister, Donna Jean Bonchek. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM Friday, April 28, 2017 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Eastern Star Services at 7 PM and Masonic Services following the Eastern Star Service. Funeral services will be be at 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Allen Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
