To: The Baldwin Family.
I know you don't really know me. That you don't know exactly who I am. But I loved Colby just as much as all of you. He was the big brother I never had. I am really sorry about Colby. I know what you're all going through. What you've been through. I miss Colby so much. He really knew what to say to make a person feel better. Colby really knew how to make everyone happy. And he is dearly missed by everyone. Colby would walk into a room full of people and say one word and we would all be smiling again. We could be having the worst day ever. Then Colby would come up and hug us or just smile and instantly our lives would be better in that moment. I loved Colby just as much as everyone. He really was a one in a million person and I will never be able to find anyone like Colby again. Ever since he passed I see him everywhere. I don't want to believe he's gone but I haven't heard from him and it kills me. I miss him and I wish everyday with all my heart body mind and soul that I could bring him back. Even if just for a day. Not just for me but for his family, for his friends, for Josette. I believe she is the one girl who needs it the most. But I miss him too. We all do. Sleep Easy Colby <3 I love you big brother <3

Dear Fred, I just tonight heard your family's sad news from Jenny and Barb and wanted to express my sympathy to you.  I can't imagine your pain but please know that my gut ached when I heard of the tragedy.  I lost track of where your life had taken you but still smile when I see our yearbook photo on the playground together.  Please know that I am thinking of you and praying that God heals your broken heart.  Love, Diana (Brehm) Leitch

You were truly one in a million Colby. When you walked into a room everyone there instantly had a smile on there face. You were something else I swear. I'll never forget you Colby. You've helped me through so much in life at first I thought I couldn't do it without you. But knowing I have you watching over me everyday makes things a lot easier. We love and miss you Colby. Things will never be the same without you. I think of you everyday, every smile, every tear, every laugh, all your silly phone calls and cute texts that made my day better. I miss that all so much. Rest in peace Colby. Gone but NEVER forgotten. <3

Baldwin Family:

I talked to you last night at the services but I wanted to let you all know once again that I saw Colby as a nephew to me and I loved him deeply. Just like everyone I tried my best to help him. I gave him tough love thinking it would help but he ended up being afraid of me and I never ever wanted that. I was trying to protect Kenzie as well as trying to open his eyes. I am so sorry I couldn't do more. He really was a special person full of life and light. If any of you need anything please do not hesitate to let me know. You are all in my prayers <3

To the Baldwin Family & Friends of Colby:

I would like to say that I am so very sorry for your loss. I unfortunately did not get the opportunity to ever meet Colby personally, but from what I have heard he was an amazing person/friend to everyone he had come into contact with. This tragedy saddens me, he is gone far too young. My thoughts and prayers will forever be with you all! RIP Colby, you will never be forgotten.

Message from Ms. Kuntz
April 25, 2012 8:52 PM

Being a Baldwin, Colby was at the beginning of the alphabet and so I did not get to know him very well since I work mostly with students at the end of the alphabet.  However, I remember the first time that I met Colby.  We were in the high school library and he was trying to use the copy machine.  He couldn't figure out how to use it so he asked if I could help him.  When I showed him how it worked, he was so appreciative.  He thanked me several times.  And then, as if to offer some kind of "payment," he reached into his pocked and pulled out some candy and said, "Ms. Kuntz, would you like some Runts?"  I said, "Yeah, Colby, I would like some Runts."  ...and he gave me some Runts.  This experience I had with him so reflects the many stories that were told last night at the vigil about his kindness and care. From what I have learned about him in the last few days, he really had a gift to bring light and cheer to others.  He will be missed.

Fred, Kara and the entire Baldwin Family - May the Great hearer of prayer and the God of all comfort carry you through this difficult time(Psalms 65:2).  Words alone can never express the sadness we feel for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. May his memory be for a blessing!

In the short amount of time that we have known Colby, he was a very respectful and kind young man. Always willing to offer help and never hesitated to stop what he was doing just to say hello. It was obvious that he had a big heart and a kind soul. He'll be missed.

God bless,
The Jenkins Family

I am so very sorry for this tragic loss.  I admired Colby''s commitment to defeat this struggle and his effort to always look out for Johnny.  His comment to me that "you know I''ll alway''s have my bruh''s back Mrs. Fraedrich , remeber we go way back to t-ball" was just  who Colby was-A great unselfish friend always putting others first. I so wish someone had his back that night. I am so glad I told him he was special and that I appreciated all he was doing for himself and Johnny the last time we talked.  Colby, You told me you chose God as your higher power and Colby I know HE was listening then and is comforting and protecting you now.May God shine your light forever on all of us left down here.I pray that you will teach all your friends and loved ones how precious life is.  Thank you Colby, I will miss your smile. You will not be forgotten.  Ruth Ann Fraedrich (Johnston)
