I got to know Fred as a kid playing Ravenna Rams Footbal. Fred was always so positive and caring. He was so easy and fun to talk too. I lived around the corner from Fred for a couple yrs, before I moved to Toledo in 2005. I remember stopping to talk, and numerous others stopping to say hi too. Pretty safe to say Fred's personality was like a magnet to those around him. My Condolences to the Berry family. RIP Fred.
You will be missed, Josh.

A great guy who will missed by all. Played basketball with him at Immaculate Conception, took Karate lessons from him, toured his box factory with some crazy people with crazy ideas. He was the best guy you could ever know. Always positive always supportive.

Fred worked with my father at Container Corporation and I only vaguely remember him from company picnics when I was just a little guy. Many years later after he was appointed to City Council I found myself working with him as an employee of the City. At our first meeting he greeted me with such enthusiasm and excitement and reminded me of the company picnics so many years ago. That was the classic Fred, he never ever forgot a face. Iā€™m going to miss your enthusiastic ā€œHello young manā€ greeting every time we crossed paths. You were a class act Fred, always standing up for what was right even it if wasnā€™t politically convenient. I hope others can look to your example and continue your work for our community. RIP old friend.

Fred will be missed by anyone and everyone that ever knew him. His infectious laugh, his wonderful personality and his devotion to his family, friends and residents of the City of Ravenna. I always looked forward to my wife's 1967 class reunions so I could see and talk to Fred. It won't be the same this year without Fred being there. In recent years I could call Fred anytime to tell him my concerns about city government and he would listen without complaining or getting impatient. In the 80's we coached our sons on different teams in Hot Stove baseball and would see each other at meetings every month and share a laugh or two. He always laughed at my jokes even if they weren't funny. You could kid with Fred and always be in a good mood when you were around him. He was the foreman of a jury trial I had in Common Pleas Court and of course the jury reached the right conclusion with Fred leading the way. He was in a television commercial for me when I was running for judge and I didn't even have to pay him. To say it another way, Fred would do anything for you without ever expecting anything in return. Good bye old buddy,I will miss you more than you could ever know. .
