Jerry N. Stuver

Sept. 20, 1929 – May 21, 2017

(Ravenna, OH) Jerry passed away May 21 after a long illness.  He was born in Wadsworth, OH to Arthur and Olive (Kunkler) Stuver. The youngest of six children, he was preceded in death by sisters, Wilma (Lower), Donna (Kane), Doris (Alderfer) and Faye (Ebert), as well as a brother who died in his youth. Jerry graduated from Wadsworth High School and attended the University of Akron briefly before enlisting in the U.S. Army’s Officer Cadet School. A Korean-era veteran he served for two years in San Antonio and Detroit before being honorably discharged with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.  Jerry married his wife Gaynelle (McCoy) on Nov. 20, 1949. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary before her death in August 2011. They are survived by their children, LuAnn (Buddy) Rogers of Ravenna and Neal (Lorie) Stuver of Kent, as well as by three grandchildren, Kyle Stuver (Rumford, RI), Ryan Stuver (Kent) and Haley Stuver (Kent).   After returning from the service, Jerry spent his entire working career at Enduro Rubber Company in Ravenna, starting in the shipping department, moving to the office as bookkeeper/treasurer and finally as owner of the company, before turning it over to his children several years ago. He continued to work on a part-time basis and only quit going to the office a couple of months ago.  In his younger years he enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren, following Kent State athletics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was an excellent bridge player and solver of crossword puzzles. Other hobbies included cars and boats. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.  You may share condolences or memories with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
