Welcome to the memorial page for

Joanne B. (Wise) Heinz

September 6, 1951 ~ June 25, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Joanne B. Wise Heinz (65) of Ravenna Township passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, at UH Portage Medical Center.  A lifelong resident of Ravenna, she was born to Harold Eugene and Jean (Keefer) Wise, who preceded her in death.  She is survived by Timothy, her husband of 41 years, and daughter Stephanie (Jennifer Irwin) Heinz of Columbus, Ohio.  Also loved and survived by her sister Carolee Wise, Ravenna and brother Maurice (Diane) Wise of Pittsford, New York.  She will be fondly missed by many in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, great niece and nephews, and beloved cousins and second cousins in Ohio, New York, Florida, and across Canada.  If you knew Joanne, you, too, were her family.

She was a proud graduate of Ravenna High School (1969), Bohecker's Business College, and Five H Acres Horsemanship School in Syracuse, New York.  Joanne retired with 30 years of service as Deputy Treasurer from the Portage County Treasurer's Office.  As a young woman, she was actively involved showing horses and a member of the Y-Knot 4-H Club and Ohio Arabian and Half Arabian Horse Association.  Ever a devoted animal lover, Joanne was well-attended to by her cats Midnight and Presley. She was a fan of punny dog jokes ("get your bassett moving"), cat calendars and various Animal Planet shows.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and gravesides services will be held at Maplegrove Cemetery, Ravenna, on Monday, July 17 at 1:00 pm. Reverend John Wooden, of Stone Village Church in Columbus, will officiate.  A Celebration of Life will follow at Mimi's Italian Restaurant, Ravenna.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Rose's Run Rescue, PO Box 33, Rootstown, OH 44272 or the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center (franklincountydogs.com/donate ).  To honor Joanne, her family requests that you spend time with your loved ones, take your dog for a walk, and always leave room in your heart for enduring friendships.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and in house doctors in UHPMC Stepdown Unit, particularly Brooke and Courtney along with UH Hospice nurses.  Also thanks to Dr. Saif Rehman and his nurses and staff.
