Lester “Carl” Brown, age 63 of Ravenna, passed away on January 13, 2017 in his own home, comforted by his family. Carl was born on September 17, 1953 in Ravenna to the late Lester and Freda Brown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William Brown. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Brenda E. Brown, and by their sons; Carl Anthony “Tony” Brown, Curt (Jill) Reagan, Michael (Damon) Reagan, Joseph (Melissa) Reagan, and by his godson, Jimbo. His memory is cherished by 2 nieces, which were like daughters to him, Deena Tannert and Lisa Sledge. He is also survived by his sister, Debra (Larry J.) Kern, his brothers; James (Angie) Brown, Larry (Prov) Brown, John (Debbie) Brown, Roger Brown, and Mike Brown, and by his granddaughters, Eliana and Irelyn. Carl was an avid bowler, hunter, and Browns fan. Carl proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1972-1975 in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Carl found a career with Patio Enclosures in Macedonia and worked there for 31 years. Thereafter, Carl worked as an over-the-road truck driver. He has also served as a former Commander for the American Legion Post 331 and is a lifetime member of both the American Legion Post 331 and the VFW Post 1055 in Ravenna. Calling hours will take place on Friday January 20, 2017 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes’ Ravenna Chapel from 10AM-12PM. The funeral service will immediately follow calling hours. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The American Legion post # 331, or to the VFW post #1055.
