Lowell Bravard Myers (88) of Streetsboro, Ohio was called to the Lord while hearing loving affirmations from his surrounding family on February 21, 2017. He was born on October 14, 1928 in Salem, Ohio.Proceeded in death by his dear spouse, Carole Myers (d. 2010); parents Russell Lowell and Jane Bravard Myers; sister, Lois Roth; brothers, Charles and Gerald Myers; and daughter-in-law, Meleny Myers.He instilled the values of faith, family and love into the hearts of his family members and is survived by his children; daughter, Deborah and Dr. Randy Reed of Streetsboro; son, Dr. Lowell B. Myers of Carrollton; son, Dr. Douglas Myers and Kelly of Canton; daughter, Jane George of Streetsboro and daughter, Heidi and Dr. Gary Wheat of Hudson. Grandfather of Tiffany Reed, Carolee (Adam) Corbett, Sarah (Jim) Martin, Ben Reed, Lyndi (Nik) Camp, Rachael Myers, Lauren Myers, Audrey Myers, Tarah (Al) Monzo, Bridgette (Ryan) Kocak, Doug Myers, Dr. Nick Shifflet, Ashley Myers, Melinda (Mike) Filbin, Amy (Alex) Reinmann, Katelyn (Jim) McGill, Jennifer Wheat (Michael), Stephanie (Jon) Kuznicki and Elizabeth (Justin) Yeakley. Grandfather of great-grandchildren; Jackson Reed, Addison and Abella Corbett, Caroline and Clementine Martin, Bentley Camp, Anna and Jude Kocak, Alyna and Nico Shifflet, Charlie and Elsie Reinmann, Taylor Filbin, Dylan and Kayla Wheat, McKenzie and Logan Lovaty, Wyatt and Levi Kuznicki and Lucy Yeakley.Lowell graduated from the University of Mount Union in 1956 and received M.Ed.from Kent State University. His love and passion for educating young minds began early in 1955, when he began teaching 5th and 6th grade at Riverside Elementary. From 1957 to 1959, he taught at South Liberty School where he was also a member of the Educational Research Committee of the Ohio Education Assoc. and was the president of the Alliance Education Assoc. He then became superintendent of Wellsville Local Schools from 1962 to 1967 and superintendent of Streetsboro City Schools from 1967 to 1973. In 1973, he became superintendent of Maplewood Career Center where he planned and oversaw the construction. He retired from the field of education in 1989.Lowell also served as president of the local Kiwanis Club, president of the Streetsboro Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Health Board of Portage County. He was a devout man of faith who had been a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Alliance), St. John Lutheran Church (East Liverpool), St. Thomas Lutheran Church, (Streetsboro) and most recently, a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (Hudson). Calling hours will be Friday, February 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Streetsboro, Ohio. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Gloria Dei, Hudson, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery  Streetsboro, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lowell’s name to be made to Portage County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hudson, Ohio.  Condolences and memories of Mr. Myers may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
