I loved hearing all the wonderful stories Rex has shared with me about his mother, Merrelene, over the years. She was clearly a very special person and someone I would have enjoyed getting to know personally if we did not live so far apart. I hope that her family carries on her love for needlework and quilting by sharing the skills that she shared with them. I am holding you all the the Light as you all adjust to your loss.

Super, great aunt Merrellene will be terribly missed. All of us loved her and her amazing joy of and for life. The stories she shared and the lessons she taught will be cherished in our memories forever.

I always remember her as Mrs Sprouse. I can remember visiting with her at church and when I would go to the house to see Emily downstairs. Always stopped to say hello to her and the family. She lived a very long life and saw so much and taught us all a lot. I remember stopping in the variety and there was her and Rex both knitting.
I left Mantua in 1970 when I went into the service, lived in Milwaukee and now reside in Phoenix and will always remember Mrs Sprouse.
May your memories of her keep you strong and as a quilter I am so glad to hear that she was sharing this art with her families children. Each of you cherish the knowledge she gave you.
God be with each of you during this time.
