Norman “Bookie” L. Johnston Jr. age 62, of Akron, OH passed away on August 23, 2016 in the comfort of his own home. Bookie was born on November 1, 1953 in Sandusky, OH to the late Dolly and Norman Johnston Sr. Bookie was a former resident of Ravenna, OH and most recently worked as a department manager at Walmart in Macedonia, and as a manager for Dunkin Donuts in Akron prior to that. Bookie will always be remembered as Santa to his family and others, an avid Browns fan, and his love for Snoopy. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and play his drums. Bookie was very funny, a practical joker and loved to embarrass his wife, children and grandchildren as much as he could. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers; Joe and Tuzzy Johnston. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, and his children; Norman (Angie) Johnston III, Jennifer (Carlos) Ramon, Brittainy (Donald) Kuhn, and step-daughter Kayla (Carl) Bohman. Bookie is also survived by his two sisters Debi Williams& Dawn Pierson, and his brother Keith Johnston. His memory is also cherished by his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; Julianne, Malynn, Olivia, Alex, Christian, Benjamin, and Allie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 1:00 PM until time of funeral services at 4:00 PM with the Rev.
