Rita M. Kotkowski, 87 of Shalersville passed away on Thursday April 28, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.  She was born May 9, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to the late Urban and Anna Mae (Rider) Paulus.  Mrs. Kotkowski has lived in  Shalersville since 1952 and was formerly from St. Joseph's Community in Randolph.  She was the bookkeeper  for her family's business Lakeside Sand and Gravel where she was very proud to be a part of the team and worked until last fall. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua. Rita loved playing the piano and  most  of all loved being with her family. Always influenced by music, she was never one to turn down the chance for a good polka dance.   Survivors include her children Diane (Mark) Gray of Shalersville, Joan Robinson of St. Cloud, Florida, Kathy Kulla of Shalersville, Larry (Wanda) Kotkowski, Ronald (Barb) Kotkowski, Kevin (Brenda) Kotkowski and daughter in law Vicki Kotkowski, all of Shalersville, 79 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings  Ann Wilbert of Newton Falls, Jane Bedard of Randolph, Jean Stanley of Ravenna, Lee Paulus of North Canton .  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Kotkowski on April 16, 2003, her son Alan, grandchildren  Alexis Marie, George, Mike, Yancey and son in law Bill Kulla.  Calling hours will be 2-7 PM Sunday May 1, 2016 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Streetsboro Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday May 2, 2016 at St. Joseph's  Church in Mantua with Father Edward Stafford officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Shalersville, Ohio.  Condolences and memories of Rita may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
