John Woodard Obituary

John Henry Woodard of Streetsboro passed away on April 1st, 2024. Born on March 5th, 1940, he was the loving husband of Kay Woodard of 60 years. John had two children who he was proud of and adored, John R. Woodard of Streetsboro and Kathy (Christopher) Martin of Mantua. He also had three beautiful grandchildren who he treasured, Katie and John Martin and Yannie Woodard. John also leaves a sister, Elizabeth Lucille Maple. John was a very proud Navy veteran. It meant a lot to him to hear someone say "thank you for serving" or to even pay for his meal. He served four years on the US Rosevelt CV42. He was also in the National Guard for two years. John worked at Ametek Lamb Electric in Kent for 38 years. He was also a farmer for most of his life. John was truly a loving and hard working man who will be deeply missed. John is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Myrtle Woodard and two sisters, Mildred Diane Woodard and Mary Ellen Woodard Page. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 10:00AM at St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro, Ohio. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:45PM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. Memorials can be made to honor John's love of animals to the Portage County APL.
