Austin Robert Borrero

Austin Robert Borrero, 20 of Streetsboro died from an accidental overdose on Sunday, August 5, 2018.  He was born June 12, 1998, the beloved son of Susan Kravetz and Chad Borrero. 

Austin attended St. Patrick’s School in Kent and graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 2016. During his senior year of high school, Austin took first place in the state technical drafting competition and then finished seventh in the National SkillsUSA Championship. He was planning to enter Kent State this fall to study mirco-biology.

Austin loved being with his grandparents. As a boy, he and Grandpa drove tractors, had campouts, and went on many adventures. Quality time spent with Grandma included sharing meals and working on homework. Austin loved to listen to his grandmother read to him and they enjoyed audio books together.

Austin and his cousins loved to play kick the can at night and go on “bear hunts in the out-back” with their Grandpa. He liked to fish and play ping pong with family and friends.

Friends remember Austin as caring, very smart (too smart for his own good!) and being the person to always make others smile.

His Catholic faith was very important to him. He participated at St. Joan of Arc Church as an altar server and a Eucharistic minister. He was a Cub Scout, enjoyed nature, and loved all animals, especially his pet cats. He played guitar and liked jazz.

Austin is deeply loved by his mother. The two enjoyed playing computer games, watching movies, and most importantly, just being with each other.

He is survived by his mother Susan Kravetz of Streetsboro, his father Chad Borrero and step-mother Debra Borrero of Cape Coral, Florida, his grandparents, Bob and Kathy Kravetz of Streetsboro, his brother Adam Borrero and honorary sister Kayla Lynch, Aunts Karyn Kravetz, Dianne Turoff and Sally Vasquez, Uncle Anibal Mull, and many loving cousins and relatives. Calling hours will be Friday August 10. 2018 from 5-8 PM at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Streetsboro Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 AM Saturday August 11, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro. Austin will be laid to rest in All Saints Cemetery Northfield, Ohio.  He will be greatly missed.
