Connie Lumbert Obituary

Connie S. Lumbert, 67 of Freedom Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Connie was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.
She was born September 25, 1950 in Ravenna, Ohio.  Connie was blessed with two sets of parents, the late Paul and Florence (Peebles) Hopkins and Robert (Bob) and Thelma (Thompson) Knipper who reside in Freedom Township. The Hopkins and Knippers were great friends, blessed to share in raising Connie. She attended and graduated from Ravenna High School where she met the love of her life, Carl. They married August 8, 1971, moved to Freedom Township in 1976 and raised their daughters, Christine and Carrie.
Family meant everything to Connie. She especially loved family traditions. Every Sunday, spanning decades, a lunch was lovingly prepared by Connie and Carl for their children with parents, extended family and guests always welcome. Baking and decorating Christmas cookies were also traditions she enjoyed, and will be continued by her children.
Connie enjoyed her office management career of thirty years at Spectrum Machine in Streetsboro. Connie shared a special bond with the founders and their children, Kevin, Tim and Todd Lamb.
Also dear to heart was her nephew, Paul Taylor. She was a kind and gentle person who volunteered for numerous organizations. She enjoyed taking day trips with Carl and was an avid reader. She was often seen in the stands, sidelines and auditoriums supporting her grandchildrens’ athletic and academic endeavors.
She was strong in faith. A teacher’s of our Lord’s word, Connie taught first grade Sunday School at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville for many years. Connie was known by all for her generosity and kind heart. She would give her last dollar to one in need. Her home was always filled with love and acceptance toward all who entered.
Survivors include, parents Robert and Thelma Knipper, her husband Carl Lumbert, her daughters Christine Pitsinger of Freedom Township, Carrie (Tim) Simmons of Garrettsville, her grandchildren Brandon Pitsinger, Nathan Pitsinger, Alyssa Simmons, and Ashley Simmons, her great granddaughter Brooklyn Sue Pitsinger and her siblings Juanita Cole, Jayne Taylor, Karen (Roy) Martin, Paul (Marie) Hopkins and Eugene (Judy) Hopkins, along with cousins, nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.
In addition to her parents, Paul and Florence Hopkins, she was preceded in death by her siblings Ray Hopkins, Richard Purcell and Allen Knipper.
