Darlene Bishop went to be with her Savior Jesus on May 9, 2017. She was born on September 2, 1951 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Darwin L. Friend, Sr. and Leanna Mae (Giesey) Friend.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Darlene was a graduate of Southeast High School and went on to attend Alliance Beauty College for hair design and later received her degree from Columbus State University in accounting.  Early on she worked for L&K Restaurants of Ravenna, Kent and Stow, local hair salons, then a bus driver for Southwestern City Schools in Columbus. Later she was an accountant for Fine Designs.  Darlene was a member of Community Bible Church of Rootstown. She loved to crochet, sew, bake, do crafts, fish, hunt and enjoyed the outdoors, but not nearly as much as she loved her family and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Darwin Sr. in 2011 and Leanna in 2001, sister Marilyn in 2003 and her cherished pooch Chloe in 2016.  She is survived by her son Daniel Bishop of Akron, grandson Christian Bishop of Texas, brother Darwin (Debbie) Friend, Jr., of Ravenna, niece Krystal (Tim) Brandt of Texas and, great niece Carlene Brandt of Texas.  She was also survived by her pup Ode and her friends Jennifer, Ruth, Jan, Toni, Barb, Debbie and Mick. She will be missed by her family and her friends, but she has been reunited with Jesus and the loved ones who have gone before her. Per Darlene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held May 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Community Bible Church 3671 Tallmadge Rd. Rootstown, Ohio.
