Douglas R. Svoboda, 86, died Friday July 28, 2017 at Mulberry Gardens in Munroe Falls, Ohio.  Doug was born June 28, 1931 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Fredrick and Beatrice Maude (Reed) Svoboda.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Janet (Price) whom he married November 1, 1952 and his brother Thomas and sister Virginia Mancino.   Doug is survived by three sons, Russell of CT, Steven of TX and Clinton (Thomas) of Stow; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and half brother David of West Farmington.  Doug was a Korean War Veteran  who worked his entire career at the Record Courier in Ravenna, both before and after his US Navy Service.  He enjoyed woodworking and spent countless hours on home improvement, cabinet making and model building projects for his family and friends.    At his request cremation has taken place.  Memorial calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 2, 2017 from 4-6 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  Private family burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna, Ohio.  Condolences and memories of Doug may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com
