Dr. Melvin L. Grubaugh

On Sunday, December 30, 2018, Dr. Melvin L. Grubaugh went to be with the Lord at the age of 89. Survivors include his adoring wife of 71 years, Madaline (Hammond) who he supported through their hey days and in his later days lovingly cared for until his last breath. He is also survived by children Kenneth Grubaugh, Brenda Ciganik, James Grubaugh, and Melvin P. Grubaugh, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald Lee and brother Bill Grubaugh.

Dr. Grubaugh came to Streetsboro Ohio in 1963 to serve as Pastor and Undershepherd of The First Baptist Church of Streetsboro where he remained until May 2010. Over the course of his 47 years there he built a thriving ministry with a love for people and sincere concern for the souls of men. He was strong in body, in spirit, and commitment to a higher calling. His word was his bond, and everyone he met knew it.

Dr. Mel was a self made, self reliant man. From his education throughout his ministry, from his skill with every kind of tool, and his continual thirst for knowledge, he knew no boundaries. His work ethic was bar none and his talents were limitless.

He was a compassionate man who never turned a stranger in need away without help.

He will be forever loved and greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Calling hours will be from 5 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel located at 9781 Page Road, Streetsboro, Ohio. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the funeral home with the Reverend Jeff Tauring officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.
