Duane P. Payne

Duane P. Payne, 89, of Ravenna, Ohio passed away Friday November 9, 2018 at Green View Assisted Living in Green, Ohio.  Duane was born July 19, 1929 in Aurora to the late Pierre and Esther (Howard) Payne.  He was a lifelong resident of Portage County and worked as a teacher & administrator  in Randolph, Ravenna and at James A. Garfield Schools.  Duane served in the United States Army.  He is survived by his son E. Christopher  (Velda Mescher) Payne, 22 nieces and nephews, 51 great nieces and nephews, and 83 great great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Irene Wymer, Richard Payne, Oliver Payne, Paula Kline, Marian Nelson and Carolyn Payne. Cremation has taken place.  Memorial calling hours will be from 10 AM until time of memorial service at 10:30 AM Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Uniontown, OH 44685 or Catalyst Ministry, 215 East Jackson Street #317, Painesville, OH 44077
