Edward J. "EJ" Smith

Edward J. "E.J." Smith  48 of Ravenna passed away Tuesday October 9, 2018 at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. He fought a long and courageous battle with Juvenile Diabetes and Wolfram Syndrome.  Being a lifelong Ravenna resident EJ was born November 24, 1969 to Crawford and Dorothy (Wallace) Smith in Ravenna.  He was a 1988 graduate from Ravenna High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church. EJ owned his own cleaning service until his sight failed and he was employed and volunteered at RMH. Survivors include his parents Crawford and Dorothy, his aunt and uncle Mike and Patricia (Smith) Martin, several cousins and his special second mom Donna Clark.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Crawford and Nancy Smith, Sr. and Joseph "Pete" and Ruth Wallace.  Calling hours will be Saturday October 13, 2018 from 11:00 Am until time of funeral services at 12 noon at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio.  The family greatly appreciates the care EJ received from UH Portage Home Health Care and UH Portage ICU. Condolences and memories of EJ may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
