Airman First Class George Wesley Madgett, 67, died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice, in Warren, Ohio surrounded by family on April 13, 2018 and entered the gates of Heaven for a reunion with his Savior and family. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in September 1973.
Airman First Class George W. Madgett was born on April 20, 1950 in Ravenna, Ohio to Sidney and Rosalie H. Madgett. George, a graduate of Ravenna High School, joined the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and was assigned to the Lackland Air Force Base.
He is survived by his sons, Jeremiah Madgett, James Madgett, Daniel Madgett, Anthony Bradley (Nadia), and Sean Colian (Misty); 22 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. His siblings, Clara (Cortez) Law, Georgia; Alma Madgett, Ohio; Gary Madgett (devoted friend Deborah Lang), Illinois; John Madgett (Val) Georgia and Charlotte Woods, Florida. In addition, he leaves Maree Madgett, his former wife, who graciously opened her home to George throughout his illness on many of his outpatient weekend visits for holidays, birthday celebrations and family get togethers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Rosalie H. Madgett and brother, Sidney Madgett, Jr.
A viewing will take place at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, Ravenna, Ohio on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.with his service following at 1:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. B. J. Grant, Pastor, New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
His interment at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio will take place 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018.
