George F Mendiola

George F. Mendiola, 80  of Rootstown, passed away Monday November 11, 2019 with his family by his side at UH Portage Medical in Ravenna.  He was born January 27, 1939 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Anthony and Carmella (Bucci) Mendiola.  George has lived in Rootstown the past 32 years and was a member of St. Peter of the Fields Church in Rootstown.  He was a retired criminal investigator for the State of Ohio and a veteran of the US Army.  He enjoyed fishing and golfing.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings John, Cecila, Lucille and Patrick.  Survivors include his wife, Karen M. (Neff) Mendiola whom he married March 3, 1962, his children George (Laurie) Mendiola, II of Mantua, Beth Mendiola of Rootstown, his grandchildren Anthony Schmidt, Elizabeth (Kevin) Memmer, Nicole (Tony ) Hedberg, Taylor Mendiola, his great grandchildren Dominic, Torrence, Hailey, Vincent and siblings  Mary Fritz of Port Orange, Florida and Nick Mendiola of Ravenna.  At his request, cremation has taken place.  Memorial Calling  hours will be Saturday November 16, 2019 from 10 AM until time of Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Peter of the Field Church with Father David Misbrenner officiating.  Condolences and memories of George may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com
