George Miller Obituary

George Francis Miller, Sr. went home to the loving arms of God on Monday, December 2, 2019, at the age of 92.  He was born on May 29, 1927, in Chest Springs, Pennsylvania. He was a Boy Scout and became an Assistant Scout Master in later years.  He joined the US Navy as a Seabee during World War II, stationed in Port Hueneme, California, serving as a welding instructor.  He came home after the war and joined his brother as a barber in Patton, PA, for two years.  He married Ruth Cecelia Stoltz on June 19, 1948, in St. Augustine, PA.  Together, they raised eleven children.  George coached Little League baseball for 12 years, he was a member of Burton JC’s, and retired from Samco, Inc. in 1991. He and Ruth moved to West Lafayette, Ohio, in 1993 and then to Streetsboro, Ohio, in 2003. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Jerald, and two sisters, Ruth Hollern and Jean Getsy.  He is also pre-deceased by two of the children, George Jr. and Cathy Lambert. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Miller of  Streetsboro, Ohio, children: Raymond (Rose) Miller, Wisconsin, Patricia (Donald) Turk, Ohio, Norman (Christine) Miller, Ohio, Constance Malencore, Pennsylvania, Nancy Centric, Ohio, Dorothy (John) Szoka, Ohio, Alice (Les) Lickers, New York, Dwight (Amy) Miller, Pennsylvania, and Lynda (Curt) Shaffer, Florida. He had thirty-one grandchildren, fifty-eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Calling hours will be 5 PM-7 PM on Friday, December 6, 2019, at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, 9781 Page Road, Streetsboro, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at St. Mary’s Church, 340 North Main St, Hudson, Ohio.  Military honors will be held  immediately following the Mass. George will be buried in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, following cremation, at a later date.  In  lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church, Hudson, or St. Mary’s Feed My Sheep program at St. Mary’s, Hudson.  Condolences and Memories of George may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
