Helen (Rakityan) Borbely

Helen Borbely 94 of Streetsboro died Friday, October 5, 2018. She was born September 28, 1924 in Cleveland, OH to John and Barbara (Loska) Rakityan. Helen and her late husband Alexander were Charter members of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Streetsboro, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, on church council, Altar Guild and sang in the choir. She worked as a housekeeper, a poll worker for the Board of Elections, at Sea World and for Lawsons. Helen was also worked for the City of Streetsboro, was a member of the Streetsboro Senior Center Advisory Board and the Streetsboro Community Theater member. Survivors include her children Diane Lee, Alex (Michelle) Borbely, Deborrah (Charles) Defer and Tim (Kathy) Borbely, grandchildren Craig and Brandon Borbely and Mary and David Defer and great grandchildren Kyle, Emma and Abby. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alexander, brother John Rakityan and son in law Jeff Lee. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Duer officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Portage County APL, PO Box 927, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
