Helen L. Kehres 94 of Palmyra died Sunday, September 9, 2018 at her home. She was born July 14, 1924 in Deerfield Township to Harold and Isabel (Wilson) Lewis. Helen graduated from Palmyra High School in 1942, was a member of the Deerfield Friends Church and retired from GE in Ravenna where she was an inspector. Helen, like many members of the “Greatest Generation “only wanted better opportunities for her children and her grandchildren than she had. Helen and Bob Kehres gave their children the motivation, competitive nature and opportunities to achieve all that they never had. That’s a good legacy to leave. She enjoyed traveling with her family to football games, quilting and baking. Survivors include her children James (Joy) Kehres, Jr., Larry (Linda) Kehres, Kim (Joe) Veverka, Doug (Betsy) Kehres and Renee (Jim) Heitkamp, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, sister Leona Livezy and special friend Bob Fitzsimmons. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 61 years, James “Bob” Kehres, Sr. and six siblings.
Calling hours will be from 6 - 8 PM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, September 14, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend Jody Hill officiating. Burial will follow in West Cemetery in Palmyra Township. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Palmyra Township Chapel Fund, 3956 State Route 225, Diamond, OH 44412.
