John P. Husvar

December 27, 1946 ~ December 22, 2010 (age 63) 63 Years Old
John Paul Husvar passed to the next life on the evening of December 22, 2010, after a brief second battle with lung cancer. He was born December 27, 1946 in Martin's Ferry, a son of the late John W. and Janice (Chippi) Husvar. John attended New Baltimore Community Church. He was a volunteer during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps but was only able to serve six weeks before receiving a medical discharge. He worked in many roles in his life; blacksmith, business owner, wheelchair technician, industrial crane engineer, as well as other technical endeavors. He was a lifetime learner, having accumulated over 175 hours towards a degree at Kent State University from 1976 to the mid 1990's. He was an avid reader, an active thinker, and a Renaissance man in every sense of the word. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda J. (Aschcraft) Husvar; son, Jerod; daughter Ruth; and six grandchildren, Samantha, Mikayla, Hadley, Caulin, Chloe, and Johnna Marie; sister, Janice; niece, Elaina; as well as many cousins who reside in Texas. He also leaves behind his very special friends, Kim and Kathy George, and their daughter, Theresa George Prince. Three cats also greatly miss his love. His wished were to be cremated and his ashes will be spread on his sister's farm in Texas, as well as launched on the Viking Ship Ceremony at the Great Pennsic War in Slippery Rock, PA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either your local branch of The Society for Creative Anachronism (www.sca.org) or the National MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org). John loved the SCA and was helped many times by the NMSS. In lieu of tears and sadness, raise a toast in his honor and remember that he will no longer be in the pain that has plagued him for so long.
