Lovell Colbert Jr, 72 years of age, of Akron, Ohio was called home by the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Akron City Hospital. Born August 13, 1947 in Seales, Alabama, he was the first born son of Lovell and Ethel Colbert. Known to family and friends as June, he lived most of his life in Ravenna, Ohio. Lovell was a faithful member of the New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church serving as a deacon-in-training and superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam Era. His employment included the Ohio Turnpike and General Electric. Lovell enjoyed his church fellowshp, spending time with family and friends and helping others especially in the area of transportation. Fishing brought him much pleasure. He spent many hours on the fish bank with his good friend Deacon Richard Brantley. Preceded in death by his parents, his younger brothers Alphonso and Robert, his grandmother Mima Mitchell and his uncle Pleas :Jack" Chambers, loved ones left to cherish his memory include his brothers Will, Roosevelt and Jessie, his best friend Earl Brantley of Moreno, CA and many other relatives and friends. I Thessalonians 5:18 Memorial calling hours will be Saturday August 31, 2019 from 11:00 Am utnil time of memorial services at 12 Noon at the New Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Ravenna. Committal services with military honors will be 1:30 PM Thursday September 5, 2019 at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery Rittman, Ohio. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
