Steven L. Horvath, 48 of Freedom Twp., Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his home. He was born May 1, 1969 in Cleveland, Ohio to Lee Stephen Horvath and Barbara Darlene (Wilhelm) Frazee. Mr. Horvath has lived in Freedom Twp. for the past 25 years and was formerly of Ravenna. Steve graduated in 1987 from Southeast High School, during which he studied auto mechanics at Maplewood Career Center. Steve worked as an automotive technical and paint specialist at Summit Racing Equipment in Tallmadge starting in late 2015. From 1987-2015 he worked as the store manager at API in Ravenna.
Being a life long automotive enthusiast he loved his 1968 Impala fastback and the 1978 and 1979 Cutlasses he built with his son, Colton. He enjoyed drag races as a racer and as a spectator. He also enjoyed attending car shows, cruise-ins and swap meets.
In addition to his parents, Lee S. Horvath of Palmyra, Maine and Barbara D. (Larry) Frazee of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Steve is survived by his wife of 29 years, Loni A. (Shipley) Horvath. His son, Colton (Chelsea) Shipley of Akron, Ohio. Father and Mother-in-law, Sam and Fran Shipley of The Villages, Florida. Grandfather, Kenneth Gene Fridley of Freedom Twp., Ohio and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Teresa (Rumya) Horvath and maternal grandparents, Harry Wilhelm and Barbara J. (Krause) Fridley.
Memorial calling hours will be Saturday April 7, 2018 from 3-6 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel located at 141 N Meridian St, Ravenna, OH 44266. Donations to the family can be made at www.paypal.me/horvaths.
