Thomas Harold Simmons of Mantua, Ohio passed away Tuesday morning, September 25th 2018 at the age of 71, after a long struggle with diabetes. Tom graduated in 1965 from Aurora High School in WV. He served in the US Air Force stationed in Anchorage, Alaska where he specialized in electronics. Tom was a very skilled computer programmer, with one of his most memorable accomplishments being the Ohio Turnpike gate project. Tom was a member of the Portage County Ham Radio Club, and he was an avid fisherman with many trips to Canada.
Tom was born July 6, 1947 in Accident, WV. He is survived by his wife, (Menjil) Balbina Arombo Bandala Simmons, mother and stepfather Mary (Waybright) and Ira (June) Bolyard; sister Vesta Gank and daughters Tadjana (Peachy) Ross with daughter Ashley, and Debra Brammer with son Tommy; brother Larry Simmons and wife Donna; half-brother Russell (Junior) Simmons; half-sister Crystal Terrant; half-sister Misty Schoch; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Russell Harold Simmons and stepmother Sharline Simmons; sister Geraldine Simmons, and first wife Patricia (Seese) Simmons.
Tom will be laid to rest in Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, WV. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
