Alma M. (Edwards) Spaeth

November 18, 1939 — May 13, 2015

Alma Spaeth (Edwards), 75, passed away May 13, 2015 at The Aurora Manor after her long battle with diabetes and dialysis.  She was born on November 18, 1939  in Chesapeake, Ohio to Clyde L. and Rosa M. (Lafon) Edwards. Alma has lived in Streetsboro since 1965. She was a member of the Aurora Mennonite Church and she dedicated her life to caring for and serving others. She was a passionate nurse, a kind friend, and a loving mother and grandmother. She always put others before herself and she truly loved unconditionally.  In the early years she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Robinson Memorial Hospital and then at The Hattie Larlham Foundation caring for mentally handicapped children for more than 30 years. She was a member of many clubs including Chub Club, Gardening Club, Quilt Club and Card Club. She loved to play cards and played with the same group of ladies for more than 40 years. She  had a passion for creating and was always working on a project and instilled in her family the value of a hand made gift. She also was an avid reader. Her kind heart, loving spirit and contagious smile will be missed dearly. Survivors include her daughters Carla (Ronnie) McGovern of Streetsboro and Susan (Mayur) Shah of Hudson, son Bill (Heidi) Spaeth of Shalersville, grandchildren Nayan Shah, Katie Shah, Isaiah Spaeth, Jacob Spaeth and Eliana Spaeth and a sister Pamela Stahmann of Versailles, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Carl F. Spaeth on Aug. 1, 2014. Memorial calling hours will be held from 4 PM until time of memorial service at 6 PM Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Aurora Mennonite Church, 59 E. Mennonite Road, Aurora, OH 44202. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Hattie Larlham Foundation, 7996 Darrow Road, Suite 10, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
