Alma J. Butcher 68 of Freedom Township passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna, Ohio. She was born January 13, 1944 in Ravenna to the late Herman and Dovie (Moore) Krebs. She was a homemaker and caregiver to her mother, father, husband and Kids. Our dearest, loving wife, mother and friend, Alma J. Butcher, has gone on her journey to Heaven and is now being held in the arms of her precious loved ones who have been waiting for her to join them. Her courageous battle with a long illness has finally ended. After being faced with some difficult treatment choices, Alma bravely chose quality of life. With the support of her loving family, she lived the rest of her life on her terms. Though we are comforted knowing that she has found joy and that her pain is gone, our hearts are broken and our lives will never be the same without her. Over the years, Alma enjoyed sharing her life with her husband and family, encouraging and supporting their many interests. She loved being a coach's wife and a baseball mom, attending every game and planning and hosting many fun and memorable baseball

picnics. Her children's friends bestowed the title of "Mom" upon her because she welcomed them into her home with open arms and was a good, non-judgmental listener. She enjoyed attending numerous bowling and golfing events that her husband participated in and was his biggest fan. She was an expert at preparing huge meals for golf outings and family get -togethers. Alma was a loving daughter and was a longterm caregiver to her mother and father. Before her illness, Alma was the family chauffeur and had so much fun going on trips with her beloved parents and other close family members. Her grandchildren were so very special to her, and they are already missing their precious Grammy. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband French Nickol "Nick" Butcher whom she married August 20, 1960, daughters, Deanna (Rick) Butcher-Curtner of Cuyahoga Falls, Claudia (Kevin) Franko of Deerfield, Jennifer Wampler of Windham, son, Thomas (Nancy) Butcher of Rootstown, grandchildren, Justin Franko, Melinda Wampler, Kimberly Wampler, John, Jared, Scott Butcher, Christopher Franko, Clara and Mallory Butcher.   In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Kelly Ann Butcher and brother Ronald Krebs.  At her requestcremation has taken place.Memorial calling hours will be held from6 to 8 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 and from 1 PM until time of services at 2 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Bill White Jr, officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
