Andrew (Andy) J. VonStein, a loving husband and father, and pillar of the Ravenna community, passed away on September 21,2010 . He was 51. Andy lived his life in the "pay it forward" philosophy. He truly believed in helping others with no expectation of a reward or accolade. He genuinely cared for others throughout his life and contributed to making this world a better place for everyone who knew him. Andy would light up with any mention of his wife and his two daughters. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed working in his yard and spending time at the ocean. His faithful friend and companion, Izzie. an Old English sheep dog, will forever miss their daily morning walks. Andy was very active in the Ravenna community for many years. He was president of the Portage County Association of Realtors in 1994. He was president of the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce in 2001, and just recently served as president of the Ravenna Rotary Club from 2009-­2010. Andy received his business degree from Kent State University and in his 32 years as a real estate agent in Portage County , he received several awards. He was Realtor of the Year in 1990 and 1994 and had been a yearly recipient of the Ohio Association of Realtors President's Sales Club and a recipient of the Achievement Distinction and Pinnacle awards. Andy was also a regular recipient of the Portage County Professional of the Year award on all levels including bronze, silver, gold and platinum. He was also recognized several times with the Portage/Summit County Builders Association for new home construction, where he was a top producer in promoting and selling real estate in Ohio . Andy was a member of the Ravenna Elks and also a very active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Streetsboro, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. A ndy was born in Ravenna , Ohio , on March 9, 1959 to the late Robert and Phyllis (Kaufman) VonStein. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 30 years, Laura (Fink) VonStein. His two daughters, Brittany and Brooke, whom he considered the apples of his eyes, will forever remember him. Andy is survived by his brothers Robert (Judy) VonStein of Rootstown and Larry (Jean) VonStein of Stow. His sisters Roberta Stanley of Kent, Darlene Wagner and Kay Lynn VonStein, both of Ravenna , also survive him. Sister-in-Iaws Kathleen Fink of Cleveland and Karen Fink of Avon Lake will also miss Andy. Andy will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and also his great niece and great nephew. Calling hours will be held Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel, 141 North Meridian Street , Ravenna , OH 44266 . A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11 :00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Streetsboro , Ohio . In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to St. Joan of Arc Church Trinity Fund, 8894 St. Rt. 14, Streetsboro , Ohio , 44241 .
