Anthony J. "Tony" Polichena

Anthony J. "Tony" Polichena 85 of Ravenna, formerly of Newell, WV, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Maison Aine Nursing Home in Stow, Ohio. He was born October 10, 1930 in Ravenna to Rocco and Frances M. (LaFatch) Polichena. Tony was a US Army veteran and was a trainer and owner of race horses  at Mountaineer Race Track in Newell, WV. Survivors include his sisters Elizabeth DeAngelis of Kent, Carmella D'Agostino of Ravenna, Fran Hutchinson of Kent and Vickie Blackiston of Kent, and Nicky Lynn Polichena of Rootstown, brothers Joe (Josephine) Polichena of Ravenna, Russell (Mary) Polichena of Rootstown, Leonard (Dolores) Polichena of Kent and Frank (Jane) Polichena of Ravenna, stepdaughters Sheila and Barbara and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James, Rocco, Jr. and Nicholas Polichena and companion Mary Ann Sellers.  Calling hours will be from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM Friday, October 30, 2015 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Father William Kraynak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna. The family would like to thank Maison Aine Nursing Home and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for all of their support and care for Tony.
