Arlan "Al" Alfred Earls

November 29, 1933 — March 15, 2020

The family of Arlan (“Al”) Alfred Earls of Streetsboro is saddened to announce his unexpected passing from a cardiac arrest on March 15, 2020 at the age of 86. He will be remembered by his wife of 39 years, Evelyn (Gardner Broadwater) Earls. Born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia on November 29, 1933, where he graduated high school in 1952. After military service, Al spent most of his adult life in Streetsboro, Ohio. Al was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Jane (Copfer) Earls, parents Alfred and Lucille (Burdette) Earls and sister, Helen Jo Walker.  He is survived by his brother, Richard Earls, and his children Arlan Earls, David (Vanessa) Earls, Beth (Mike) Solomon, Carol (Ken) Stankiewicz, and William (Dee) Earls. Al is also survived by children Randy (Gail) Broadwater, Rick (Michelle) Broadwater, Michael (Laurie) Broadwater, Dennis (Rose) Broadwater, Holly (Pat) Kocis, and daughter-in-law Paula Yauman, who are grateful for dad taking care of our mom for so long. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Broadwater. He will be missed by his many, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends. Al was a Veteran (Army 82nd Airborne Division). He was an active member and supporter of Faith Baptist Church (Streetsboro).  He enjoyed bowling and playing cards and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and of KSU basketball. Al worked as a printer throughout his life, retiring in 1999.  After retirement, he enjoyed time with numerous friends at the Streetsboro Senior Center (where he was a “champion” card player!). A private graveside service was held at Evergreen Cemetery shortly after his death. There will be an announcement at a later time regarding a public “celebration of life” to be held at Faith Baptist Church.  Arrangements are being handled through Shorts, Spicer and Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel.
