Arthur Walker Jones Jr. (Junie)

Arthur resided in Kent, OH 44240 where he passed away. Arthur served our country in the US Army from 1968-1970 stationed in Germany and St. Louis, MO before being honorably discharged. Arthur was never a stranger to hard work, he started at a youthful age laying asphalt for his father and continued working until he retired June 2020 at the age of 72. Arthur enjoyed playing softball, shooting pool, and most of all making his presence known on the dance floor. Arthur was the life of the party, his glowing smile, loving spirit, and infectious laugh will always be something to remember. Arthur was known for his lavish suites and cars as he took pride in what his hard work had afforded him over the years. Arthur was someone you could always count on no matter the need. He was a pillar of the Jones family. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son. Arthur impacted so many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children daughters Tierra Jones, Nicki Heller, son Charles Roper, and goddaughters Brandy (Marlon) Jones and Natasha Jones, grandchildren Darianna Heller, Ja’Hayla Jones, Jadin Willetta-Walker Jones, Ky’Aire Jones, Alaya Ann-Marie Monroe, and others, sisters Mary (Ransom) Ware, Gloria (John) McGahee, Charlene Jones, Comellia Ordia, Estrella Jones, Valesca Jones, Christine Robertson. Brother Bertram Jones and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parent Arthur Walker Jones Sr. and Essie Mae Jones, Arthur was greeted in heaven by sisters Eloise Murry, Helen Chase, and brother Gerald Lewis.

A special mention of niece Tiffany Jones and nephew Kenneth Murry for being there and so supportive. Also honorably mentioning his lifelong neighbor  and friend George and like a brother and  best friend Robert Grooms.

In keeping with Arthur’s wishes, cremation will take place, and memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Sunday April 6, 2025. Calling hours will be 10am-11am, followed by military tribute, and memorial services at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.   Celebration of life will be at Ravenna Elks Club 776 N. Freedom St. Ravenna, OH 44266.
