Arthur Prejna, 84, of Streetsboro, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Medina on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Art was born September 29, 1940, in Buffalo, NY, to Frank and Sophie (Cygan) Prejna. After graduating from Sloan High School in 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged, and spent most of his career in various management roles, retiring from Kent State University in 2000 as an operations manager. Among Art’s favorite pursuits was fishing, summer weekends at Lake Chautauqua, yard and home upkeep, and tooling around in his beloved Chrysler 200. He was known for his friendly, outgoing personality and self-effacing sense of humor. This devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and proud veteran (American Legion Post 685) is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann (Hibbard); son Michael Prejna, and daughters Jenny Prejna and Marcie Prejna; and grandchildren Sydney (Desiree) Boardwine and PFC Jacob Miller. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank, and sisters Evelyn and Rita. Per his wishes, Art was cremated—his family will host a celebration of his life at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, on Tuesday, January 14, 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Hospice of Medina, 5075 Windfall Rd., Medina, OH 44256.
