Austin Marshall, Jr.

Austin Marshall, Jr., age 75, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. He was born on October 8, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin and Anna (Arrington) Marshall, Sr.

Mr. Marshall was a 1964 graduate of Ravenna High School and attended Kent State University. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969 and held the rank of Sergeant. He retired from the Ravenna General Electric Warehouse and Distribution Center on June 1, 2008, after 38 years of service.

Mr. Marshall was a faithful and devoted member of the Ravenna Avenue Church of God Family for 48 years. He was a willing and committed servant of the Lord who allowed God to use him in several capacities from chairman of the trustees to choir member and pianist. Mr. Marshall had also served as the van driver and as an usher. Additionally, he was a member of the Brothers of Faith from Cleveland, Ohio, where he used his spiritual gift to sing praises and glorify God.

Mr. Marshall leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 54 years, Ruth (Lewis) Marshall; daughter, Lisa Maria Marshall (Raymond O’Neal); son, Austin Ernest Grant Marshall (Brittainy Fortson); grandsons, Austin Ernest Grant Marshall II, and Amare Anthony Marshall all of Ravenna, Ohio; brother, Lamont Marshall of Ravenna, Ohio; his special kids known as “Jerry’s Kids” and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin (Anna) Marshall, Sr., and brother, Price Marshall.

Calling hours will be Saturday April 23, 2022 at Portage Community Chapel Ravenna, Ohio from 10:00 Am until time of the 11:30 Am Funeral services.  Burial with military honors will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio.  Condolences and memories of Mr. Marshall may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
