Barbara Jean (Fahey) Doak

October 17, 1934 — March 18, 2022

Ravenna, Ohio

Barbara Jean Doak, 87, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ravenna, OH.  Barbara was a life long resident of Ravenna, born October 17, 1934 to the late William and Florence (Abel) Fahey. Barbara and her parents served Jehovah, the God of the Bible, as Jehovah's Witnesses. Barbara symbolized her love and dedication to her God by getting baptized as one of his servants on September 26, 1953 and was a member of the Ravenna, Ohio Congregation. Barbara married the love of her life, James A. Doak, Sr. on December 17, 1960.  They enjoyed 60 years together until James' passing on January 18, 2021.  Both James and Barbara had a firm belief in the promise that's given in the scriptures that very soon Jehovah will resurrect his faithful servants back to life on a restored paradise earth.

Barbara was a homemaker and was always cooking and baking for family and friends.  She loved spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and tending to her flowers, especially her rose garden, canning, embroidery, crocheting, beach vacations and going on boat rides with her husband while he fished.   One of her most important and cherished activities was sharing her faith in Jehovah with others, telling them of the hope for the future.

Besides her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her three sisters, Lillian Harper of Ravenna, Eleanore Miller of California and Mary Jane Pryor of Indiana.  She is survived by her daughter, Tami (Eric) Burger of Ravenna, Todd (Cathy) Doak of Randolph and Trent (Laura) Doak of Brunswick. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tabitha Bayless of Suffield, Todd (Jenny) Doak II of Randolph and Remington (fiancee Heather) Doak of Randolph.  She also leaves great-grandchildren, Trey and Ryleigh Bayless of Suffield and Makayla and Alex Doak of Randolph.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many dear, long-time close friends.  A virtual memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 17th at 4:00 pm via Zoom Video Conferencing, with Ronald Frient officiating.  The family would also like to thank the Administrator and entire staff at Woodlands for their wonderful, compassionate care of Barbara over the past four years.  We so appreciate it and know that you became like family to her and us.  In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Jehovah's Witnesses at www.jw.org.   Condolences and memories of Barbara may be shared at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
