Barbara (Lardi) Ormanis

March 27, 1937 — November 11, 2012

Barbara Ormanis, 75 of Ravenna died Nov. 11, 2012 after struggling with advanced dementia. Barbara was born March 27, 1937 in Morawitza, Romania to Barbara and Wenzel Lardi.  Barbara's mother died at child birth  and she was raised by her grandparents.  The family had to move to Austria in the 1940s due to WWII. In 1955, at age 18, she married Frank Stegh. They immigrated to  the U.S. to the Akron/Randolph area.  Barbara had 3 children, Kathy, Frank, and Sue Stegh. A fourth child, Johnny died at child birth, a very difficult loss for Barbara.  Barbara remarried Janis(John) O. Ormanis in Aug. of 1977 and lived in Ravenna.  Barbara was always a very hard worker at home.  She also worked in other homes as a caregiver and house keeper, a job she enjoyed very much.  Barbara loved gardening, yard work, cooking, crochet, and knitting countless blankets, hats, scarves and socks, she made for the family, friends, and several charities.  Barbara is survived by her children Kathy Stasel, Frank (Candy) Stegh, Sue (Marty) Arms, Grandchildren, Jackson, Eric, Casey Ragland, Tim (Tonya) Horn, Jenna, Josh, Jody, Jason Hillis, Jesse, Christopher, and Gage Stegh, Several great grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by 2 step children, Olga Kitzmiller, and Fred (Sandy) Ormanis.  grandchildren, Heidi (Mark) Kovach, Steve (Sheri) Kitzmiller, and Margaret (Ken) Oldham.  Great grandchildren, Stephanie Kitzmiller, Andrew Kovach, Jackson & Sophia Kitzmiller,  and Maci Oldham. Barbara  was always busy, loved and will be missed very much by family, friends and neighbors.  Many Thanks to Bonnie Klusty and her workers at Bonnie's Home Care helping Barbara this past month.  Barbara will be remembered for her endless energy, silly sense of humor and loving spirit. Calling hours will be held from 3:00 PM till the Service at 4:00 PM, Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Rev. Norma Bates will be officiating.  Memorials can be made to the Center of Hope or to the Portage County APL
