In Loving Memory of Barbara June Papczun

June 26, 1934 – March 2, 2025

With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Barbara June Papczun, on March 2, 2025.

Born on June 26, 1934, in Bassett, Virginia, Barbara took immense pride in her family’s heritage that traced back to the earliest settlers of the Virginia colony. After spending her youth in Beckley, West Virginia she followed her parents to Cleveland, Ohio in the 1950s. It was there that she would meet her future husband Ed, and settle down in Streetsboro to raise their five children – Debi, Eddie, Kent, Brett, and Eric - whom were her life’s greatest joy.

Upon her arrival in Cleveland, Barbara would become a fixture in the 1950’s ballroom dance scene where she developed a deep passion for dance, a love that stayed with her throughout her life. She found beauty in every step, every rhythm, and every turn on the dance floor, and she delighted in sharing and teaching that passion to her children.

Barbara’s children were a constant source of pride, and though our hearts are heavy, her legacy will live on in those she touched, to include her four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Although we are deeply saddened, we take comfort in knowing our Mom is in the loving embrace of her savior Jesus Christ, and reunited with her beloved daughter Debi, and her husband Ed, whom preceded her in death.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday morning at Shorts Funeral Home in Streetsboro, with her burial immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery.
