Betty J (Francis) Schneider

April 2, 1921 — February 2, 2011

Betty J. Schneider, 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Robinson Memorial Hospital Hospice with members of her family at her side. Born April 2, 1921, in Crafton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alice Appleton Marsh and Earl Francis. A lifetime Ravenna area resident, Betty was a graduate of Ravenna High School, attended Boehecker’s Business College, and worked at Firestone Rubber Company in Akron before marrying Leo Schneider on September 2, 1940. After raising her family, she worked as secretary for the Ravenna city mayor from 1960 to 1965 and then acquired her real estate broker’s license and operated Schneider Realty along with her husband and father-in-law, Frank Schneider. Betty enjoyed reading, knitting, and swimming and traveled extensively in both the U.S. and Central America. Survivors include her daughters Carol (David) Martin of Chagrin Falls, Nancy (Louis) Sorboro of Marco Island, FL, and Jean (Michael) Kreyche of Kent, as well as 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and her sister, Dorothy Hollenbach, in 1984. At the request of the deceased, there will be no calling hours. A private family memorial service has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Betty's memory to LifeLine/InfoLine at 703 S.
