Betty V. (Jackson) Tymcio

Betty Virginia Tymcio 90 of Rootstown passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 with her family near her.  She was born April 24, 1924 in Washington, PA to the late Joseph Paul Jackson and Lillian Jackson Ryan (Hennen).  Betty was retired from Kent State University. Betty attended the Rootstown Congregational Church. She was a member of the Rootstown 50+ Club, Friendly Neighbors, Women Alone, the Rootstown Garden Club and a card club.  For many years she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for both her daughters and granddaughters. She was preceded in death by husband, Walter Tymcio, who she married in November of 1942, her parents, a daughter Judith Tymcio-Voss, step-father, George Ryan and her sister-in-law, Ruth Jackson.  She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Joyce Hanan, son, Walter Mitchell Tymcio (Karen), son-in-law, Joseph Voss,  brother, George Jackson, son-in-law, Don Hanan, grandchildren, Don Hanan (Amy), Kelly Hanan, Heather Copen (Tim), Christie Tymcio (Shawn Lowther), Joseph Tymcio, Scott Voss (Tina Freeman), Todd Voss (Heidi) great grandchildren; Ashley Proudfoot, Summer Hayes, Skylar Hayes, Triniti Copen, Riley Hanan, Alex Voss, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her special friend Shadow.  She was the center of our family and will be greatly missed.  Calling hours will be held from 5 - 8 PM Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Woodall officiating.  Burial will follow the service  in Homeland Cemetery, Rootstown, Ohio.  Memorials can be made to either the Portage Co. APL or to Robinson Hospice.
