Betty J. (Nemec) Ward

Betty Jane Ward 83 of Streetsboro passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. She was born June 14, 1929 in Richfield, Ohio to the late James and Mary Nemec.  Betty graduated from Richfield High School as valedictorian. She worked for Western Union sending telegrams till she retired in 1963.  She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of The Circulators, and the Library Society. She enjoyed gardening and was a avid reader.  Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Randall) Thompson of Upper Marboro, MD, Laura (Mark) Shaffer of Streetsboro, sons, James (Janice) Ward of Wapakoneta, OH, Gary Ward of Lyndhurst, OH, grandchildren, Troy and Benjamin.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Ward whom died in May 9, 2000, sisters Irene Gager, Mary Cole, and brother, James Nemec Jr.  Calling hours will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Don Workman officiating the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Boston Hts., Ohio.
