Betty M. Francis 81 of Ravenna passed away peacefully on Thursday June 23, 2011 at her residence. She was born March 23, 1930 in Cumberland, Maryland to the late Harley B. and Mae (Lee) Smith. Betty lived in Ravenna the past 55 years. Upon graduation from Kent Roosevelt High School, she worked at Ohio Bell as an operator. Betty left Ohio Bell to become a homemaker and later worked for many years as a retail clerk for the Jack & Jill store in Ravenna. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Ravenna serving as a deaconess and attending the Wednesday morning group. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren and having lunch with her sisters st Suzie's Cafe. Survivors include her husband of 57 years Glenn Francis, her sons Greg (Eve) Francis of Ravenna, Dennis (Sheila )Francis of Kent, her grandchildren Sean, Grant, Brooke, Mitchell, Allison, her great grandchildren Sean, Jr., Josh, her brother William Smith of Canton, her sisters Delores Echnat of Uniontown, Lola Sorbara of Rootstown and Karen Shaffer of Racine, Wisconsin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Harley K. Smith. The family would like to invite those who knew Betty to join them at 1:00 PM on Saturday July 2, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Ravenna, Ohio where a celebration of her life and memorial service will commence at 2:00PM. Her final resting place will be in Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
