Bobby W. Nelson, Sr. 68 of Ravenna passed away Friday October 7, 2016 at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. He was born April 16, 1948 in Bim, West Virginia to the late Quinton and Gertrude (Bickers) Nelson. Mr. Nelson has lived in Ravenna most of his life and at one time was a maintenance foreman for Bowen Machine in Bedford. He was 100 percent disabled veteran of the US Army serving his country in the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Hearts. Survivors include his sons Bobby Nelson, Jr. of St Clair Shores, Michigan, Jeffrey Nelson of Atwater, his grandchildren Brandi, Sarah, Shelby, Jeffrey, Austyn, Emma, his great grandchildren Jacob and Kayla, siblings Charles, Frances, Edith, Billy, Dorothy, Lois, David and beloved uncle to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his siblings Carol, Donald, Patricia and Quinton, Jr. . Calling hours will be 6-8 Pm Wednesday October 12, 2016 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be Thursday October 13, 2016 at 9:00 AM with Rev. Bill Snyder Officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery Rittman, Ohio.
