Bruce W. Hite

Bruce W. Hite 65 of Ravenna passed away Sunday May 26, 2013 at Akron City Hospital.  He was born January 28, 1948 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Roger and Jane (Schick) Hite.  Bruce has lived in Ravenna most of his life and was working for the Myers Tire Supply in Akron.  He was an very avid sports fan, rooting for the Cleveland Indians, Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes and loved dancing to his rock and roll music.  Bruce was a lifetime member of the Ravenna Elks BPOE #1076 and the Ravenna American Legion Post 331.  He also served in the US National Guard.  In addition to his parents, Roger and Jane, he was preceded in death by his stepmother who lovingly raised him since an early age as her own son  Gwen Hite.  Survivors include his wife of 28 years Linda (Hopkins) Hite, his children Brian Hite of Dunsmuir, CA., Erika Elrod of Clayton, NC, his step children David (Jessica) Baldwin of St. Petersburg, FL, Julie Hamilton of Andover, Ohio, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Survivors also include his brothers Lance Hite of Louisville,OH  Blaine (Martha) Hite of Cuyahoga Falls, Scott (Leslie Hite of N. Canton, his sisters  Gretchen (Bill) Landers of Blackhawk, SD. and Karen (Larry) Saeger of Louisville, OH.  Friends will be received at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes  on Saturday June 1, 2013 from 1-3 PM and 5-7:30 PM.  Ravenna Elks will have services at 7:30 PM following the calling hours.
