Carolee Wise

Carolee Wise, 75, of Ravenna passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 at UH Portage Medical Center. She was born September 28, 1949 in Ravenna, Ohio to Harold Eugene and Jean (Keefer) Wise, who proceeded her in death, as well as her sister Joanne B. (Wise) Heinz. Carolee, after a brief stint working in NYC fashion (where she made lifelong friends), returned home to continue her professional education at Bohecker’s Business College (now Fortis, originally founded by her grandmother Blanche Brown), where she also worked for many years. She later retired after 25 years at ODOT, working in Human Resources.

A lifelong resident of Ravenna, she often volunteered throughout the week of Ravenna Balloon-A-Fair, decorating floats, working booths and generally filling in any gaps that would arise for family, friends and supporters.

She took great pride in maintaining her home and flower beds; engaging with friends and family brought her the most joy. A lifelong animal lover, she often loved everyone else’s animals as much as her own. Survivors include her brother Maurice (Diane) Wise of Lithia, Florida, nieces and nephews Stephanie (Ellen) Heinz, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Julie (Leroy) Leavell of St. John’s, Florida, Randy Wise of Tampa, Florida, Ellen (Brandon) Courtney of Lithia, Florida and Peter (Courtney) Wise of Clermont, Florida and 10 great nieces and nephews. She will be fondly missed by beloved cousins, second cousins, in Ohio, her brother-in-law Tim Heinz, Canadian in-laws, dear friend Charles Wetmore and endless close friends near and far.

There will be no calling hours or services at this time. Per her wishes, Cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest in the family plot at Maple Grove Cemetery.
