Carolyn June (Bell) Armentrout, age 83, of Canton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, May 15, 2026, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, rejoicing in His presence. She was born June 21, 1942, in Cleveland. She was a proud graduate of Kent State University.
Carolyn married the love of her life, Richard E. Armentrout, on June 19, 1965, and together they shared nearly 61 years of marriage.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Vivienne and Robert Bell, and by her beloved daughters, Robin June and Allison Grace.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard E. Armentrout; her sons, Richard Armentrout (Rachel), David Armentrout (Julie), Chris Armentrout, and Stephen Armentrout; her sister, Robin Loy (Denny); her 18 cherished grandchildren, Stephen Crawford, Victoria Fincham, Alec George, Abby George, Kenna Kerner, Chloe Hunt, Lexi Armentrout, Lili Armentrout, Reagan Hunt, Riley Hunt, Robert Wills, Jaclyn Wills, Austin Armentrout, Porter Armentrout, Riyah Armentrout, Lailah Armentrout, Kelli Everson, and Andy Krupa; and her seven great-grandchildren, Liam Wills, Lucy Krupa, Emilee Fincham, Charlotte Fincham, June Fincham, Weston Sarras, and Evie Sarras.
Carolyn dedicated nearly 30 years to teaching, primarily at Washington High School, where she taught English and journalism. She also led the yearbook and school newspaper, investing deeply in her students’ lives. She was a beloved teacher who genuinely loved her students, and they loved her in return.
Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. She was deeply devoted to her family and found her greatest joy in being a wife and mother. Carolyn was also a gifted artist, an accomplished pianist, and taught art classes at her church. In her younger years, she was a ballerina, carrying that grace with her throughout her life.
Nothing brought her more happiness than having her family gathered together in her home. Apart from her love for the Lord, her greatest joy was her husband, her children, and the life she built as a mother. Her children and her children's children rise up and call her blessed!
Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family will live on in all who knew her.
The family would also like to recognize a very special and beloved member of the family, Joyce Everson, whose faithful care and devotion over the past year made it possible for Carolyn to remain at home, surrounded by those she loved.
Calling hours will be from 12:00 PM until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Aaron Honabarger officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
