Charles R. "Chuck" Stambaugh 91 of Ravenna passed away Saturday May 26, 2012 at the Emeritus in Ravenna.  He was born January 15, 1921 in Rootstown, Ohio to the late Raymond G. and Prudie D. (Miller) Stambaugh.  Mr. Stambaugh has lived in Ravenna most of his  life and had  many jobs.  He started with a candy business with his father in law,  was a  surveyor with Pease & Watson where he laid the first tangent line at the Ravenna Arsenal, he farmed in the early 50's and owned and operated Ravenna Sand and Gravel for many years.   He  owned  the Gaslite  Inn in Bedford  where he was the chef and than a C&D Landfill in Ravenna.  He was a former member of the Ravenna Elks and the Ravenna Masonic Lodge  and was a member of the Ravenna VFW Post 1055.  He was a small game hunter for many years and he liked playing cards.  He  enjoyed horse racing and at one time  owned his own race horses.   In his younger days he liked to compete in horse jumping events.   Mr. Stambaugh served his country with the US  Army in WW II where he was awarded five bronze stars.  Survivors include his daughter Barrie (Don) Forner of Ravenna, grandsons Chad (Jennifer) Webb of Medina, Judson (Niki) Forner of Broadview Hts., great grandchildren Faith & Lance Webb and his brother Eugene (Enned) Stambaugh of Kent.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by  his wife Kathryn in 2004, his brother Harold Stambaugh and sisters  Helen Stambaugh and Louise Brooks.  Calling hours will be 11:30 AM until time of funeral services at 1:30 PM Wednesday  May 30, 2012 at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna, Ohio.  Burial  will follow with Military Honors by the US Army and Ravenna VFW Post 1055 in Homeland Cemetery Rootstown, Ohio.   The  family would especially like to thank Shirley Tymcio for all her help and they would also like to thank his many friends who stopped to visit and chat with Chuck  over these last  months.
