Charles Lee Maimone

Charles Lee "Charlie" Maimone 77 of Ravenna died Wednesday, June 16, 2010. He was born January 20, 1933 in Ravenna to the late Antonio and Frances (Bruno) Maimone. A member of Immaculate Conception Church , the Kiwanis and VFW, Charlie served 25 years as superintendent of Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna . A US Air Force veteran, serving over 23 years and stationed in New York , Massachusetts , Korea , Tennessee, North Carolina, Greece , Germany, California, Phillipine Islands and Oklahoma as a communications operator. He coached and was commissioner of Little League Baseball and coached D league in Ravenna, coached and refereed football for base leagues and continued his love of sports by watching his grandchildren play. Survivors include his wife of 57 years Lucille (Silveria), daughters Lynn Marie Dietz, Cheryl Ann (Andrew) Boomhower, Margaret Francis (Tom) Medzie, Nancy Lee Maimone all of Ravenna and Lucienne Marie (Joseph) Zaynor of Kent, sons Charles Anthony (Mary Ann) Maimone of Wellington, NC, John Martin (Stephanie) Maimone of Atlanta, GA, James Joseph (Mollie) Maimone of Chillicothe, OH and Michael David (Alice) Maimone of Bristol, England, 40 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters Rose Emanuel of Kent and Anne Biando of New Brunswick, NJ. He and his wife Lucille also hosted AFS Students, Barbara Weiser (Austria), Beysem Segem (Turkey), Francina Fernandez ( Argentina ) and Carlos Silina (Bolivia). He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Tina Louise Rutherford, sisters Mary Dugic and Jenny Maimone and brothers Johnny, Sammy, Frank and Vincent Maimone. Calling hours will be from 5 - 8 PM Friday, June 18, 2010 at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna with Father John Michael Lavelle officiating. (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH) Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the American Cancer Society , 525 N. Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406 .
