Charles G. Venable, 73 of Ravenna, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Tamarac Ridge in Kent, Ohio. Charles was born on October 1, 1950 in Beaumont, Texas to his late parents Lee E. and Charldean M. (Irwin) Venable. He formerly lived in Louisiana but moved to Ravenna in 1988. Charles retired from the United States Navy after serving 20 years and earned the rank of E7 CPO. He also retired from Mahoning County Jobs and Family Services in 2010. He was a member of the Ravenna Elks Lodge #1076 where he served as the Exalted Ruler as well as a trustee for several years. He enjoyed anything outdoors including hunting, fishing and golfing. He especially enjoyed being the best papa to his granddaughters Olivia and Natalie who were the absolute apple of his eye. Charles loved football season where he could watch his beloved New Orleans Saints play. Living in NE Ohio for the past 36 years he also adopted the Cleveland Browns as his team, except for when they were playing the Saints! In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife Sallyann Venable whom passed away in 1993, his siblings Bill, Rodney and Kenneth Venable. He is survived by his step daughters Jamie L. (Jesse) McCoy, Rita Woolverton and Kim Woolverton. His grandson Brandon Woolverton and his granddaughters Olivia and Natalie. Great granddaughters Braelyn and Kelsey, special nephews Joey (Melissa) Venable and BJ (Alyssa) Venable, great nephews and nieces Brayden, Tyler, Mia and Olivia Venable. Per his request, cremation has taken place and no services have been arranged. There will be Military honors at the burial at a later date.
