Charlotte B. Bednar 83 of Ravenna died Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Emeritus at Ravenna. She was born September 3, 1929 in Ravenna to Clayton and Luella (Schrader) Ferrell. At the age of 14 she attend Guardian Angel Academy on Lakeshore Blvd. in Cleveland, where she learned all the necessary skills to become a young lady ready for the future, wherever that may take her. In her senior year at the academy, she was crowned Miss May Queen. After returning to Ravenna, she started working at Pyramid Rubber Company. One fateful night at a local dance, she met George Bednar, who had just returned from fighting at the Battle of the Bulge. He would forever change her life and they were quickly married and started their life together at a farm they purchased in Palmyra. They spent 58 years at the farm raising their family. Charlotte loved her family and the farm on which they worked so hard. She received so much pleasure in planting beautiful impatiens. In their later years she and George were avid antique dealers and spent many hours searching for just the right item. After George's passing in 2005, she took care of the farm the best she could. When she could no longer stay there alone she moved to Charlestown with her daughter. She is survived by her daughters Pam (Clyde) Huff of Charlestown and Rosann White of Malvern, OH, son George M. (Carla) Bednar of Ravenna, grandchildren Michelle (Greg) Kunka, Jared Bednar, Jerrica Bednar and Jessica (Jayson) Murphy, great grandchildren Jacob and Taylor Kunka and Chase and McKenna Murphy, a set of twin sisters Rosalie Riffle and Annie (Daniel) Cummons both of Ravenna and her twin brother Mannie "Lavern" Ferrell of Ravenna. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George L. in 2005, sister Geraldine Juvan and great granddaughter Kristen Murphy. Calling hours will be from 12:00 PM until time of services at 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Father John Madden will officiate. Burial will follow in Charlestown Cemetery in Charlestown Township. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Robinson Memorial Hospice, 6693 N. Chestnut Street, Suite 11A, Ravenna, OH 44266
